My name is Jamie Cardoza. I am a nurse by day, wife, mom, ranch owner, animal lover and wellness entrepreneur, by night.
My entire adult life, I have worked in Healthcare. When I became a nurse, I made a commitment to myself to always do meaningful work. If I find myself losing my passion or having trouble agreeing with the organizations standards; it’s time for a new adventure. During my 16 year journey in healthcare, I have found myself in many roles while holding strong to my vow. I have worked in healthcare administration and on the front lines providing patient care. Starting with experience in acute care (hospital setting); Med/Surg, Operating Room, Labor & Delivery, Rapid Response Team, Educator/Resource Nurse, Case Manager and Informatics. It’s important to mention, I haven’t always been a nurse. I worked from the bottom and built a foundation, working as a CNA, ward clerk, administrative assistant.
I became very compassionate about serving my community. I decided to continue my education and earn my RN. One of the best decisions I have made! Nursing has opened up many avenues. After spending 10 years working for Sutter Health Hospitals, I ventured into the outpatient world. From dialysis to Director of Nursing. This journey has led me to my current assignment. Psychiatric nurse supervisor, overseeing all outpatient nurses within the behavioral health programs. The most rewarding and enlightening, yet! I have learned and grown so much as a leader. I belong to an amazing team that provides support and community service to an underserved population.
Being county, funding can we challenging. Encouraging us to think outside the box to provide the best services and care possible. While doing so, I found myself and my family having health challenges. Often hearing “you’re a mystery”, “your symptoms are challenging to diagnose”, “I’ll go ahead and write you a referral”. This was not helpful and definitely affected my mental health. I decided to start my own research on holistic medicine and “natural” ways. With my husband suffering from liver problems, I have narrowed my focus to gut health.
Taking me on a whole new journey, homesteading! Producing our own food, and producing our own pantry. Removing unknown factors and ingredients that are found in foods produced in the U.S.. Working to eliminate inflammation in the body. Not only is my husband, son, and myself feeling better, lab results improving, mood improving, it has broadened our pallet experiencing wonderful flavors nature produces. As well as the beautiful sanctuary it has created to raise our son and retreat from the busy hustle and bustle of the world.
I have created this blog to share my passion of improving health with the world!
Welcome to the wellness journey!
